My Journey with Journaling

My Journey with Journaling

Hello sweet readers! As seen from the title, I’m going to be sharing with you my journey with journaling! I have been writing in journals consistently for about a year now, and I thought it would be nice to share with y’all what I write in my journals, and the different ways in which I use them. So let’s begin!

First I’d like to share with y’all the journal I just recently finished, and from the pictures you’ll see that I write all kinds of things in my journal. My thought is that a journal is where you have free reign to do whatever you’d like without any judgement. If you’re like me, you write your deepest thoughts and draw mediocre doodles that no one shall dare to see. I think this is important because I am able to be creative and raw with myself, which I believe helps me learn more about myself as a person.

When beginning my second journal, I wanted to start a tradition of making goals for my journals. That may sound kind of odd and type A, but I think it has really helped me keep my head in the right place whenever I journal. I didn’t want my journal to be a space of negativity or a burn book (Mean Girl’s reference if you didn’t already know). Instead, I wanted it to be a place where I could be honest but also full of grace. I definitely have written entries of bad days or bad situations, but I always try to use my journals to turn the situation into something positive. If I had a bad day and wrote about it, I would write a prayer too. If I was having a hard time with someone, I would write a prayer or list ten things that I like about them. These things may not meet the exact goals above, but in general the ultimate purpose of my journals are to keep my heart striving towards Jesus, and I think these small goals push me towards that.

A huge portion of my journals are filled with quiet time (a.k.a spending time with Jesus) entries. In case y’all were curious, this is what my quiet time format looks like! Since I’m reading through the bible from beginning to end, I found a bible plan that helps me find themes and lessons throughout the chapters. I have really enjoyed this because it reminds me to study the bible, not just read it! What you see in the photo is a bullet point with a verse/verses followed by some of my thoughts on it. This has been an efficient way to do my quiet time, so I hope this helps some of y’all in some shape or form! If you want ideas on other ways on how to study the bible, I wrote a blog post on it a while ago, so you can check that out.

Here is an example of some of the doodles and drawings that I do!

Here are the goals for the new journal I started!

For my new journal I wanted try out separating it by months. I’m going to eventually buy tabs to indicate when each month starts, but until then I’m going to draw doodles!

Not only did I start one new journal, but three! I thought it would be a good idea to have a blank page journal where I do watercolor paintings and calligraphy

My third journal I use to help me memorize scripture. The front has Isaiah 40:8 printed on it so I thought it was only appropriate to use the journal to write and memorize scripture! Also, my sweet friend Brandi gave me this journal, so it is very near and dear to my heart.

I hope this post has inspired some of you to start journaling, or to change up your journaling routine! I want to remind those who may just be starting to not be discouraged by what you see on social media or Pinterest. Writing in a journal is not about your art looking perfect and having the exact words to say. It is about exploring yourself, your passions, and your talents. It has been such an amazing outlet for me as I’m sure it is for many others!

If you have any tips or would like to share your journaling style, please feel free to comment down below and share!

Black Coffee

Black Coffee

What do you think of when you hear the words black coffee?

Saturday mornings on the couch? The source that gets you through the day (behind Jesus, of course)? Or maybe you just think “ew.” You know what I think?

Most people don’t like black coffee, and the majority that do like it have accustomed a taste to it over time. And you know what? The same thing happens when our hearts are bitter. Being bitter feels gross at first, but as we let the anger, resentment, and hurt make a home in our hearts it starts to become a familiar feeling.

I bring this whole subject up because I am guilty of letting bitterness reside, and I think it’s so easy for all of us to let it happen. We see bitterness as justification for times we have been wronged, and friends, we need to let that mindset go. It’s not healthy. More importantly, it’s not what the Lord wants for us.

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

– Proverbs 4:23

I love that God makes it so clear how important it is for us to watch what we let inside our hearts. “Above all else” guys- God thinks this is important. He cares about the condition of our hearts, and He wants them to be full of his Word, not the ugly comments on Facebook or that nasty look your friend gave you for no reason.

So this week, I say we all devote ourselves to spring cleaning our hearts; lets take out all the yucky stuff and instead fill it with beautiful truth. If you don’t know where to start, here’s the steps I will be taking throughout this week.

  1. Confessing: Spilling the beans to God is a great way to start. Confessing my bitterness and what I’m upset about gives Him the opportunity to lift those burdens off of my shoulders, and He can do that for you too!

Now repent of your sins and and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord

– Acts 4:19-20

      2. Alter my thoughts: Whenever I have the urge to hold a grudge, I’ll remind myself that being bitter hurts me more than hurts anyone else. Letting ugly thoughts about someone or something dwell in my mind will allow them to seep into my heart, which is the OPPOSITE of guarding my heart!

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

– Ephesians 4:31-32

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

– Romans 12:2

     3. Prayer: Praying for those I’m upset with is a vital step to truly getting the yucky stuff out of my heart. It may sound absurd, but that’s that’s what so cool about God: He calls us to be different and respond to the world differently. Though this may be a difficult challenge, praying for others can not only  bless them, but free me from bitterness! It’s a win-win!

It’s also important to pray about the condition of my heart. I have to be willing to be humble with God and confess that I have also made a mistake by holding on to my hurt. Asking for help in trusting Him and loving others is a great way to show that I NEED God in the process of all of this.

But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!

– Matthew 5:44

Have you gotten used to the taste of your stale, black coffee? If so, let’s use this week to dump it out, clean up the mug, and fill it with something sweeter- WAY sweeter.

Much love,

My Top 10 Favorite YouTubers

My Top 10 Favorite YouTubers

Hi friends! Today I wanted to share something fun that will give y’all a chance to know a little more about me. I feel that reading someone’s content is always enhanced when you actually know the person behind the scenes, so I want y’all to have that opportunity.

All of the people who truly know me, know that I REALLY enjoy watching YouTube videos. I have watched little to no t.v. in the past 2 years because YouTube is my entertainment source (so is Netflix, but that’s a whole other ball game). The YouTube community is such a great one, which is why I am sharing with you my top ten favorite YouTubers.

These couples and individuals have made their own little space on the internet, just like me, and welcome everyone who is interested in what they create. And I want to share it with y’all, because they are great spaces to be in and interact with, and maybe you’ll want to join in on the fun. Now without further ado, let’s begin!

(These are in no order because honestly there is no way I could rank them)

1. KathleenLights

Kathleen is one of my most favorite beauty gurus ever. The atmosphere of her channel is one that is sweet, fun, and inviting. Her channel ranges from beauty, fashion, and makeup, but most of her videos pertain to makeup. She has really helped me through my makeup journey, and has taught me that makeup can be fun and express our personality. I absolutely adore her!

2. JamiePaigeBeauty

Jamie’s channel is one the smaller beauty channels, but honestly she deserves SO much more recognition. Her makeup videos are super creative and unlike anyone else’s. She is such a talented person, and I get so excited when I see that she has uploaded a new video. Jamie is also super interactive with her community of subscribers, which is something I really admire and love about her and her channel.

3. Mariah Leonard

A.k.a. The Gal’s Guide, Mariah’s channel is very similar to Jamie’s in a sense that they are both small, creative beauty channels that deserve way more recognition (They’re also friends so that’s pretty neat). Something that I truly love about Mariah’s channel, is that she really does take in the consideration of her subscribers. She will accustom a lot of her videos to people’s needs or wants, which is something I think is really amazing about her community.

4. Zoella

Zoë’s channel is pretty popular, and it has every reason to be. Her main channel covers many topics, from makeup, hauls, favorites, and challenges- all things I and millions of others enjoy watching. To a lot of people, Zoë is a inspiration, and that includes myself. She is someone who dreams and then goes after it. She has a written several books, has her own beauty line, and many other things that make her such and interesting person. I also recommend her if you enjoy vlogs- hers are super fun to watch!

5. Tanya Burr/ Jim Chapman

These two are a sweet couple who both have main channels and vlog channels. I really like watching Tanya and Jim’s videos, whether they’re together or not. Both of their channels have fun, feel-good vibes that just make you feel super happy.

6. lindseyrem

Lindsey’s channel is unlike any other channel I’ve ever come across. Her videos range from fashion, beauty, school, and music. I think I resonate with her channel a lot because she is currently in college, so we’re both in the same season of our lives. Also, the vibes I get from her channel make me happy because her aesthetic is #goals. I highly recommend her channel if you’re a high school/college kid. And if you’re into vlogs, she also has a vlog channel!

7. Olan Rogers

Switching to an entirely new gear, is Olan. I actually went to go see Olan’s comedy show in Houston and it was sooo good. I was literally grinning the whole time. The Popcorn King is a guy who has funny stories to share, and tells them in such a way that you can’t help but laugh during the entire video. He is so great and genuine, which is something I absolutely love about him and his channel. Now go and watch the Master Commander’s videos- I promise you won’t regret it!

8. Jenna Marbles/ Julien Solomita

I have watched Jenna since she first started making videos, and her channel has always been a place I can go to when I need a good laugh. To sum up her channel, she basically makes content that is weird, funny, and sometimes strangely relatable. Julien is her boyfriend, who also has a channel of his own where he mostly vlogs. His videos are super chill to watch, and his time lapses- wow. They’re beautiful. I also want to mention their podcast because it’s super awesome and funny! I love these otts.

9. danisnotonfire/ AmazingPhil

To get right down to to it, Dan and Phil are British best friends who take over the internet with their weirdness, and somehow make it very relatable. I also REALLY enjoy their gaming channel, just because it’s super goofy. Plus they have a Sims series, and I and many others are now emotionally attached to their Sim so.. watching their gaming channel to me is a must. If the nerd in you is ready to come out, this is the channel for you my friend.

10. Game Grumps

And last, but certainly not least is good ol’ Game Grumps. Game Grumps is a gaming channel (duh), where two guys, Dan and Arin, play games and just talk about stuff. There are also other segments of this channel, but I mainly watch these two. Some of their gaming series are LEGENDARY in the YouTube community, and they are just really great to watch when you need a good laugh. Some of the series/videos I recommend are Pokemon FireRed, Super Mario 3D World, Amazing Frog?, and Battle Kid Fortress of Peril:FINALE.

I follow so many YouTubers, and I didn’t want to just recognize 10, because there are so many others that are AMAZING.So check these peeps out too!

I really hope y’all liked this post. If you’re an avid YouTube watcher like me, PLEASE share your channel suggestions down below. Thanks for reading, and I’ll chat with you next week!

Much love,

*I am not affiliated with any of these people, I just really enjoy their content!

Rose Gold Makeup Tutorial

Rose Gold Makeup Tutorial

Hi guys! As you probably already know by the title, today’s post is going to be a makeup tutorial! My last makeup tutorial was a lot more natural and simple, so today I wanted to do something more fun. When I think of rose gold looks I think of something light and pretty, so I wanted to shake it up a bit and do something a little more intense. So without further ado, let’s get started!

First off, let’s start with primer! I used the Smashbox Primer Water. I really like this mainly for the refreshing feeling it gives my skin. I also used Benefit Porefessional in the center of my face, mainly on my nose.

Next is foundation! I used the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea water foundation. I talked more about this in my April Favorites post if you want to check it out!

I would like the mention I have normal/combination skin. My face is pretty normal towards the outer parts of it, but the center of my face gets oily and I sometimes get dry patches in between my eyebrows and the center of my forehead. This foundation doesn’t emphasize any of those issues, which makes it my go-to.

Because this foundation is water based, I apply it with a brush instead of a sponge. The sponge would soak up a lot of the product, thus wasting it. So if you have any water-based foundations keep that in mind!

Next up is concealer! Lately I’ve been using Urban Decay Naked Skin and I LOVE it. It gives me minimal creasing, I dig it.

And then I just blended it in with a sponge, starting with the under-eyes and moving along to the center of my face. I also blend some concealer onto my lid to use as an eyeshadow base/primer.

To set all of my concealer, I used the ITCosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed. I mainly use this on my under-eye area, and then use the excess to powder my nose.

Since I do tend to get oily, I like the set my entire face as well to prevent everything from slipping and sliding. Because no one wants that, right? So for this look I used the Tarte Amazonian Clay Loose Powder. I dabbed my brush into the lid of the product, tapped off the excess, and lightly dusted the powder all over my face.

Next is brooowwss. I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer pencil in “Chocolate” to fill in my little caterpillars, and to set them I used the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper Brow Gel.

Now we do the most fun part, the eyes! For this look I used the Lorac Mega Pro Palette 2 and the Colourpop x Kathleenlights Super Shock Shadow in “Weenie.”

To start off, I used the color “Sorbet” (pinky, dusty rose) as a transition shade. I used a big blending brush to lightly sweep it in and above my crease. I also blended it out going towards the tail of my brows to give it more of a cat-eye effect. I just kept going in with that shade until I was satisfied with the blending and intensity.

Next I used a smaller blending brush and went in with the shade “Goji” (deep, pinky mauve) to deepen the crease a little bit more. I only put this color in the socket of my crease so it wouldn’t get blended too far upwards. After going in with that a couple of times, I went back in with the bigger blending brush and blended out the crease again to make sure it had a smooth gradient.

Then to really deepen up the look I used the shade “Cabernet” (purpley brown). I mainly focused the shade in the outer corner of my eye while lightly pressing. Then I slowly blended it into a v-shape, blending into the outer part of my socket and also onto the outer part of my lid. Take your time with this and slowly pick up pigment as you go. If you go in immediately with a ton of dark shadow, your look will be very harsh and it will be difficult to blend out and fix.

Now for the star of the show! Once again, this is the Colourpop x Kathleenlights Super Shock Shadow in “Weenie.” It’s a beautiful, somewhat deep rose gold that will really brighten up the eyes. I just used my finger and started dabbing the color on. These shadows are intense from the start, which is why I love them so much. Plus, they’re easy to apply!

Next I used a packing brush with a little bit of “Weenie” on it and lightly followed the top of my lid, making the look a bit more clean.

Once you’ve got the top of the eye look down, it’s time to do the bottom! I used the smaller blending brush that I used earlier and dabbed it into “Goji” and “Cabernet.” Then I began blending the concoction onto my bottom lash-line, starting from my outer corner and stopping midway.

For my brow bone and inner corners, I used a light vanilla shade in the palette called “Porcelain.”

Next up is eyeliner, which is undoubtedly the most difficult part. There should be awards given for those who can do perfect and even wings. Luckily there wont be any wings involved today, only a thin layer of eyeliner. I used the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in “Trooper.”

To define my eyes more, I tight-lined with my Colourpop Eyeliner in “Swerve.”

Next is my favorite part- Bronzer! Lately all I have been using is this Too Faced Sweethearts Bronzer in “Sweet Tea” It gives such a beautiful glow, which I am a huge fan of.

I messily fanned this on top of my cheekbones, jawline, and the outer parts of my forehead.

Highlighting is next on the list. I tweeted awhile back that I would be using the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Face Collection Palette in a tutorial, so here it is! For this look I decided to go with “Champagne Pop.”

I also used the Face Palette for blush! I chose the shade Amaretto. It’s a good everyday blush, and I liked it for this because it doesn’t take away from the eyes.

For mascara, I used Maybelline Lash Sensational. It gives me the most insanely beautiful lashes, with lots of separation and volume.

And last but definitely not least, is lipstick! I decided to try out something new, and applied the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in “Sandstorm.” The greige color of this lipstick was a beautiful contrast to the warmth of the rose gold eyeshadow. I loved it!

And that’s a wrap for this tutorial y’all! If you recreate this look, feel free to tag or @ me at @originalme3 on instagram or twitter. Thank you so much for reading, and if you have any blog requests let me know down in the comments!

7 Ways to Read the Bible

7 Ways to Read the Bible

Hi everyone! Today I am going to be sharing with you 7 ways to read the bible! I was saved when I was 9, and from then up until a few months ago I had struggled with truly reading the bible. It’s not just like reading any other book; it is a guide to the best life you could possibly live on Earth, so it is VERY important that as Christians we dig into this beautiful read as much as possible! All of these techniques may not be suited for you, and that’s okay. I am sharing all of these so everyone can at least find one that they really feel helps them read the bible as greatly as possible. This book has many layers to uncover, and just like a math problem there are several methods on how to approach it. So let’s get to it!

If you’ve ever been to youth church, you may have heard this term before, but I know some of you are thinking, “Soap? What does that have anything to do with reading the bible?”

Well my friends, it’s actually a pretty nifty acronym. It stands for Scripture, Observation, Analyze, Prayer. This is very handy to use when you’re new to reading the Bible because it is a guide that takes you through all the important aspects of reading scripture. For scripture, you write down the verse or phrase that really got your attention. Then you observe the text, and write down your initial thoughts. Next is analyzing the scripture, and asking yourself, “How can this be applied to my life?” Then lastly is prayer, where you go over what you learned and share your thoughts with the Lord. I started doing this when I committed to consistently reading the Bible, and it worked wonders! Once I really started getting into the groove of things, I used the next method.

2. Talking Through It

This method is kinda like SOAP, but without writing it down and you analyze a lot more. I use this method the most because I personally feel that I get the most out of my read when I do this. Basically I’ll read a paragraph or two, analyze the text, and talk myself through what I read and what God wants me to get from it. Depending on what I’m reading, the analyzation may vary. For example, I was reading Mark a couple of weeks ago and it shares a lot of what Jesus was doing when traveling from town to town. A lot of the time I noticed Jesus’ responses and reactions to the people, and I was (and still am) truly amazed at how humble and gracious he was. But if I were to read something like Proverbs, I am definitely more self-reflective. I think this method is a great go-to if you have been on the SOAP train for awhile. It truly challenges you to get to know the Lord in a much more intimate way.

3. Start with the Gospels

Once again, this method is more for those who are just beginning to read the bible, but it’s also a really good thing to do when you need a little refresher! A leader at my church actually recommended this to me (thank you Gwen) because the Gospels are all about Jesus, and getting to know him is the perfect start on learning how to have your very own relationship with God. The gospels are the books Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John- in that order. They go through the good, the bad, and the very ugly. They are vital to our understanding of the foundation of our faith, so if you have no idea where to start reading, these are it!

4. Choose a Topic

If you are seeking advice or information about a certain topic in the bible, I highly recommend getting a study bible. All study bibles are different. I have the Teen Life Application Study Bible; it is in the NLT version, and is jam-packed with a bunch of helpful reads and tools. In the back it has maps and a handy index section where you can find scripture for just about any topic. I actually use it pretty frequently, and it is super helpful when I know I really need answers or guidance in a certain area in my life. If you don’t have access to a study bible, you can always go on the interwebs and look up verses for a certain topic!

5. Audio Bible

If you’re not much of a reader or you’re constantly on the go, this could be an awesome method for you! There are CD’s and apps available that are audio versions of the Bible where someone reads the scripture to you. I personally don’t do this very often, but when I do I always use the YouVersion app. I really like it because you can easily pinpoint what you want to be read, no problem.

6. Bible Plans

Oh man do I love my Bible plans. This tool is once again on the YouVersion app, and it’s really great for starting your day off with the Lord. I have read over 30 plans, and I always feel refreshed after reading them. I don’t do them as much anymore, but if you struggle with finding time to read this is great. It can remind you daily to read your plans, and there are hundreds of topics to choose from!

7. Bible Study

Now last, but not least, is BIBLE STUDY! What always helps me when reading the Word is reading it with others, because it helps you see the Bible from different angles. It also helps you make good, personal relationships with other Christians which is extremely important! Not only do we need to have a relationship with God, but with our church community! So don’t be afraid to join a bible study or start your own! It’s filling two needs with one deed.

I hope that at least one of these methods caught your attention. Don’t be afraid to use more than one, and explore your choices! I remember the first few times when I picked up the Bible I felt super intimidated because I didn’t know where to start, so if that’s you hopefully these tips helped! If any of y’all have any other methods or techniques to share, feel free to share them in the comment section below. I will chat with y’all next week!

Simple Summer Makeup Look

Simple Summer Makeup Look

Hello, friends! I am VERY excited to share with you today my first ever makeup tutorial! I was inspired to do this look a couple of weeks ago when I went to the beach. Summer is right around the corner, and this look is perfect when doing outside activities in the 90-100 degree weather. It protects your face from those sun beams and it’s also super simple. So let’s begin!

skincare  foundation

The first part, (which is the most important) is skincare! First, I put on the Smashbox Primer Water to freshen up my face. Then, I massaged a nickel-sized amount of sunscreen lotion onto my face. The one I’m using is oil free, so if you have oily skin you are good to go with this product! Speaking of oily skin, this look has a more dewy effect, so if your skin is oily I recommend putting on a little bit of loose powder on your face BEFORE your foundation. This will help you not look like a greasy hot dog over time, and believe me you don’t want that! Next, I got a dime-sized amount of the Garnier BB Cream and mixed in one tiny drop of the Smashbox Primer Oil. The oil will help hydrate the skin and give it that dewy finish. I just buffed that concoction in, and once that was complete I applied NARS Creamy Concealer in Custard under the eyes. This isn’t a super glam look so I felt that highlighting the nose, forehead, etc. was unnecessary. Once that was blended in I set everything with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent.

This is what the base should look like!

Next up is the brows! I went really simple with mine, but if you’re a brow girl, you do you! I used the Anastasia Brow Definer in Chocolate to fill in any sparse areas, which for me personally is the tail of my brows. Then, I set them with the L’Oréal Brow Stylist Plumper.

Next is the eye shadow, and it is perfect for you makeup novices out there. All I did was dab a blending brush into some bronzer and blended it out in the crease and on my lower lash line. Yup, that’s it. You could leave it blank, but I really like using this technique because it gives your eyes a little bit of definition, which will really complement the next step of this tutorial.

Now That we have a base, defined eyes, and lovely brows, it is time to liven up the face a bit. For this look I used a liquid bronzer and a TEENSY bit of powdered bronzer. The reason I used liquid is so that it would last longer throughout the day. The more powders you use, the more likely they will fade, especially when you’re outside sweating! So a hot, sunny day = more liquid products. Anyways, as shown above I put one pump of the Benefit Hoola Liquid Bronzer on the back of my hand and then used my finger to place little dots in the hollows of my cheekbones. I also dotted a little bit on the perimeter of my forehead, and used what was left over on my jawbone.

Once that was done, I blended everything out! I will say to be reaallly careful when blending out liquid bronzers. Be precise on where you’re blending it out. I suggest doing upward motions; if the bronzer goes below the cheekbones your face will start to look dirty.

Next is highlighting and blush!! This tutorial is geared towards a healthy, “natural,” glowy type of look, so these two steps will really give us what we’re going for. First, I went in with a cream highlighter from Colourpop called “Wisp.” I just used my finger and dabbed it onto the tops of my cheekbones, the arch of my brows, the tip of my nose, and my cupids bow. Next, I popped on Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso. Using these products in this particular order with help the skin look like it has a “glow from within.”

Next is lashes! Nothing special really. I used a sample mascara from Estee Lauder and to help my lashes stay curled I used a Physician’s Formula organic mascara. You use what works for you!

And last but not least, is the lips! I used a pinky-nude lip liner and topped it off with NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien. You don’t have to use lip liner, but I like it because it helps the lipstick lasts longer. I also really love the lip pencil for my natural makeup days because it’s sheer with a good amount of shine.

And that is it for this tutorial! I really hope y’all enjoyed it as much as I loved doing it. If y’all have any tutorial ideas, let me know down in the comments!

8 Ways to Relax

8 Ways to Relax

Relaxation: something we all crave but somehow can never seem to truly get a hold of. This whole year has just flown by for me, and I feel like all I have done is work, study, write essays, and stress. The waves of my life have finally calmed a bit, and now that I have had time to reflect, I have realized it is time for a mental and physical detox.

Today, I am going to share with you 8 ways to relax! I feel that it is an important element of life that many tend to neglect, which is why I am bringing it to attention. So let’s get started!

1. Take a Bath

I know some may be skeptical about “swimming in their own filth,” and believe me I was in that same boat, but taking a bath is something I have grown to absolutely LOVE . If you’re ever worried about feeling dirty, just jump in the shower right before and take a quick rinse!

The warmth of a bath is just so comforting, (especially with a couple of lush products) and it actually helps relax your muscles! The other reason I love baths is that it’s also a time for me to unwind mentally. I’ll watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S. or Bob’s Burgers for a little laugh, which brings me to the next point.

2. Laugh a Little

Nothing helps relieve your furrowed brows more than laughter. Whenever I get home from a rough day of school or I know I have heavy homework assignments to do, I always pull up a couple of YouTube videos to make me laugh. Jenna Marbles and Nigahiga crack me up and always put a smile on my face. What makes you laugh? A funny friend? Embarrassing baby photos? Whoever or whatever it is, get that giggle source ASAP.

3. Have a Movie Marathon

We all have that one movie series we could watch over and over. Pull that guy up on the T.V. with some popcorn and candy, and you’re all set! Movie marathons are great because you kinda have a little escape from reality. If you want to make it a more fun experience, invite a friend! Y’all can put the movie on mute and make up your own dialogue. Whether you want to cry your eyes out over a Lifetime movie or laugh your head off with your bff, a movie is always a great way to chill out in the most comfortable setting!

4. Read a Book

This is somewhat similar to watching a movie in a sense that you escape the real world for a little while. I understand this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I can honestly say I never feel more at peace than when I am reading a book. (Only exception is when I’m in God’s presence, of course)

5. Take a Walk

Taking walks are so awesome. First off, it’s a source of exercise so you release endorphins, which can improve your mood! Secondly, what is better than taking a stroll and admiring God’s beautiful creation?

Nothing, that is what. 😉

6. Listen to Chill music

Many studies have shown that music affects your mood, so why not listen to chill music when you need to chill out? Personally, I love listening to soft worship, Bon Iver, or instrumental music- especially in the car. So go ahead and make a playlist of songs that help you chillax. Whenever the nerves get to ya, you can just turn on the tunes and wa-lah!- good vibes instantly.

7. Pray

Prayer is the most powerful thing you can do if you are seeking relief. The comfort of God’s presence, and just even talking to Him can make any situation better. I always feel 10x better when I leave my situations in the hands of the Father and ask him for peace. He never fails to give it to me.

All of the tips above mean nothing if you don’t actually take the time to take a step back and breathe in-and-out. You can’t truly relax if you are “reading” and also thinking of all the things you need to do in the back of your mind. Trust God in that He is bigger than your stress or your mountains. Believe me, God can crush those mountains like they’re grapes.

I hope that these tips were helpful! Like I said in the beginning, relaxation is needed, especially in a time such as this where everything is so fast paced. So go on- kick back and relax!

Much love,
